COMMANDERS CORNER

Commander's Corner

Commander Fred Cagle

The VFW Post 2791 serves as an important pillar within the community of Tinley Park. The post provides a place where veterans, their families, and local residents can gather to honor service, build friendships, and strengthen community bonds. Through its outreach and involvement in local events, the post helps keep the spirit of patriotism alive while reminding the community of the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Throughout the year, VFW Post 2791 proudly participates in several community traditions that celebrate American pride and unity. Members take part in National Night Out, promoting partnerships between residents, veterans, and local first responders. The post also marches in the annual Tinley Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the festive Tinley Park Parade of Lights, proudly representing veterans while sharing in the celebrations that bring the town together. These events allow the post to connect with the broader community and highlight the values of service, patriotism, and unity.

VFW Post 2791 also leads meaningful commemorations on important national holidays such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day. In addition to these ceremonies, the post actively supports youth education through the national VFW scholarship programs Patriot’s Pen for students in 6th through 8th grade and Voice of Democracy for high school students. These programs encourage young people to reflect on democracy, citizenship, and the importance of service to the nation. Through community events, patriotic ceremonies, and youth engagement, VFW Post 2791 continues to play a vital role in fostering pride, remembrance, and civic responsibility throughout Tinley Park.
